Camp Twigs at Sanders Ferry

Welcome to Sanders Ferry! We are delighted to invite campers to our newest camp located at Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville, TN. Camp Twigs at Sanders Ferry will be filled with the same fun activities your children have loved at our other camps: exploring in the woods, splashing in the water, and playing outdoor games just to name a few!

Why Sanders Ferry?

This summer, kids need camp more than ever before–they need to stretch their legs, skip through fields, jump in puddles, and giggle through games and crafts together. When kids get together and play outside, the fresh air, the sun, and the social activity does wonders for their cognitive and motor development. Unfortunately, too many kids are deprived of the opportunity to play outside these days. So many of our connections are cramped onto a phone or laptop screen. Camp is essential to cut down on screen time and broaden your child’s worldview. Just like Leadership Academy has done since day one, Camp Twigs Sanders Ferry will spark children’s imaginations in a way that only the magic of nature can.

Since Leadership Academy is unique in its unscheduled and unstructured design, kids will choose activities that interest them, unlocking newfound confidence in their choices. Our highly qualified counselors will look after them without micro-managing their activities. Campers will travel the trails, build forts in the woods, discover aquatic habitats, and scour the shoreline for treasure. These activities will lead them to bond with their fellow campers in an organic way. These past few years kids have had less and less opportunities to forge friendships with each other during playtime, especially outdoors. When the time for connection is given during the freedom of the camp, their personalities will be allowed to shine and the friendships they develop will surely be ones to cherish.

Under the guidance of camp counselors, children will master skills that they otherwise may not have realized they were capable of! Essential activities include fire-building, Leave No Trace ethics, and using hand-tools. These activities encourage campers to work in teams and trust themselves with new skill sets, all the while gaining respect and appreciation for nature. At Camp Twigs Sanders Ferry, your children will spend sunny days splashing in the water, laughing with friends, and gazing in awe at the wonder around them during hikes and birdwatching. Camp Twigs Sanders Ferry offers an opportunity for learning that feels like play that your child will not forget.

If your children are between the ages of 13 and 17, that doesn’t mean they have to miss out on the fun of camp! They may be interested in being a Teen Leader. Teen Leaders at Camp Twigs is a program for older campers that encourages leadership through fun and unique programs. Teen Leaders will participate in skills development, learning about nature, and leading younger campers in activities.This program is a wonderful opportunity for teens to develop confidence and leadership skills. Camp truly has something for everyone!
